Overview
Dynamic DNS (Domain Name System) gives your site a hostname that automatically follows your public IP (Internet Protocol) address when it changes. Without it, HDOnTap keeps trying to reach your camera at the old address, so the stream connection drops until the address is updated.
How HDOnTap uses dynamic DNS
- We use dynamic DNS at sites that don't have a static public IP address.
- Your site's router has to support dynamic DNS.
- We provide the dynamic DNS service through DynDNS.
- If your site doesn't have a static public IP address, HDOnTap staff can set up DynDNS on your router at the camera site when it's needed.
